Lori Genna

Lori is a well-rounded designer with a passion for residential space planning and a wealth of real-world home remodeling experience. She entered the design industry 25 years ago after college where she studied architecture, interior design, art history and fine arts. As a kitchen and bath designer, Lori welcomes the challenge of reinventing outdated, poorly designed spaces. She works closely with her clients to articulate their needs and find a tailored solution that not only improves the function and aesthetics of their space but also suits their lifestyle.

Share with us one unusual thing many people may not know about you? My grandfather, Guy Sundt, was the UW Athletic Director in the 1950s; before that he was a Badger football and track coach.

What are a few of your favorite things? Dogs, sushi and shoes

What do you do in your spare time? Clean, sleep, travel, exercise, watch movies, daydream, socialize, cook…not necessarily in that order.

What is one piece of advice or statement you want to make about the kitchen and bath industry (or remodeling)? As the saying goes:The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price.” A kitchen or bath renovation is a major investment that will not only increase your home’s value but also has the potential to bring you joy and satisfaction. Don’t skimp on quality or cut corners in the planning phase; you may regret it and either must live with an inferior result or spend more money to retro actively fix what’s wrong.

What do you like most about Bella Domicile? The unique and challenging design projects our clients bring. I wake up every day excited to get to work.

What is your favorite thing to do in Madison? Spending time on the Isthmus enjoying the parks and lakes and all the wonderful shops and restaurants Madison has to offer.

Where are you from? I was born and raised in Madison but spent most of my adult life in the Kansas City area where I raised my family.

What makes you laugh the most? Joking around with my children around the dinner table

What’s your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving

What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Watch “The Shining” alone.

What kitchen appliance do you use every day? Coffee Maker
