A kitchen and bath industry veteran, Allen began his career at Bella Domicile in 1984. He earned Certified Kitchen Designer accreditation from the National Kitchen and Bath Association in 1996 and became an accredited Wisconsin Registered Interior Designer the following year.
Admired for his keen ability to analyze and resolve design concerns in remodeling and new construction, Allen has earned the respect of area remodeling contractors, homebuilders and allied professionals. He was elected to serve two terms as president and is a longtime board member of the local chapter of NARI, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
Allen often is called on as a resource for industry expertise and has been quoted in Madison Magazine, Anew Magazine, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the Wisconsin State Journal. Industry awards and peer recognition continually validate his superior design abilities:
- Since 2006, Allen has earned four first-place, four second-place and one third-place design award in the NKBA Wisconsin Chapter’s “Dreams to Reality Design Contest” for kitchens, baths and other rooms.
- Allen garnered an honorable mention in the 2006 NARI of Madison Contractor of the Year awards for an entry that earned a perfect score from all judges in the category of kitchen remodeling projects from $30,000 – $60,000.
- Signature Kitchens & Baths magazine, which specializes in innovative trends in the kitchen and bath industry, has published over a half-dozen of Allen’s projects.
- Medallion Cabinetry named Allen one of its top 30 designers for 2007, a select group chosen from more than 1,000 kitchen and bath dealerships nationwide.
- In 2008, Allen received the prestigious Professionalism Award and Image Award from the Madison Chapter of NARI for his respected standing in the remodeling industry.
- In 2009, Allen earned team CotY awards in two categories: Residential Universal Design for creating a kitchen accessible to a wheelchair-bound homeowner, and Commercial Interior for a local showroom's reception desk and multiple workspaces. Allen took first place in each category in local and regional competition.
Both projects also qualified for national awards, with the Commercial Interior entry winning the first-place trophy.
